Well, today the support for Windows Vista ends, marking a bittersweet moment. Vista faced heavy criticism upon its release, especially during Beta 2 and Pre-RTM phases, which were slow and riddled with bugs. Yet, most everyday users didn’t mind when new versions appeared, even though the tech community was more attentive. I own two Vista machines from 2008—a Dell Inspiron 530 with a Core 2 Duo E6550, 3GB RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce 8400—not great, but nostalgic. My Lenovo ThinkPad R61 runs a different version, with an Intel Integrated Graphics and some early updates. The original Dell machine still functions under Vista Home Premium, though the motherboard has since developed issues—bent sockets, non-repairable pins, overheating. It once handled RTM smoothly, but later upgrades led to problems. I’ve tried Vista Business 32-bit via product key, and it’s mostly reliable now with SP2. The ThinkPad still works well, even with a dead keyboard and battery. For the same reasons, Vista’s reputation suffered; it’s understandable that people moved on. Goodbye, Vista—your time is nearly over.

I believed Vista performed excellently, yet the problem stemmed from outdated or mismatched hardware for that time. I still possess two of my Vista credentials ready to deploy as virtual machines.

I thought they should remove Visa from the back office and put an end to its damaging history long time ago. I worked as a Support Tech during its early days, and my strong dislike for it runs deep!

I don’t want my details shared because I really care about Windows Vista, even though others think it’s terrible. People might mock me, but I still cast my vote.

I possess the CD... and you can also create USB installers and bootable (through the removable flag) drives for it.

It’s hard to predict exactly when Windows 7 users will start arriving, but it seems like they’ll keep coming in for a while.
