You're facing a tricky situation with your new components. The screws on the Wraith Stealth Cooling Fan aren't coming out easily, even though the parts are compatible and sold together. It might be due to tightening issues or a slight misalignment. Try gently applying more pressure or using a bit of lubricant if available. If that doesn’t work, double-check the fan’s mounting holes for any hidden obstructions or damage. Let me know what you try!

Make sure your CPU is properly placed and a photo would be very helpful

I fixed the problem with my MSI B550 Tomahawk by gently securing it in a cross pattern. It functioned properly afterward.

The best photo shows the CPU looks good, but the fan screws won’t fully engage—they spin but don’t lock in place.

Begin with one screw on one side and secure it firmly, as instructed. Proceed to the opposite diagonal screw and place it in position. This ensures stability enough to insert the remaining screws into the third and fourth holes. Once all four are in, tighten gradually in small increments to prevent any screws from coming out. Keep the backplate elevated while working, moving slowly—just a few turns at a time—to avoid the screws popping. They’re short, so patience is key.

The screws have a spring mechanism, so you may need to slightly press down to secure the thread. Keep the backplate steady against the motherboard, and a tape might assist in keeping it in position.

because you tightened one spot too much, loosened it again, applied pressure to the center near the fan, and then gradually inserted this one diagonal piece
