In December 2024, my setup consisted of Monitor 1 and a DVI-to-HDMI cable connected to the HDMI port on Motherboard 1, which runs an i9-13900K with integrated GPU. By January 2025, after some PC modifications, the system failed to display output and wouldn’t even reach BIOS. To troubleshoot, I swapped in a Nvidia K2200 GPU and adjusted the configuration: Monitor 1, DVI-to-HDMI cable, HDMI-to-DisplayPort adapter plugged into Motherboard 1’s DisplayPort port using the same CPU. This resolved the issue. Later, connecting Monitor 1 to Mobo 2’s HDMI port via the DVI-to-HDMI cable still didn’t work, but linking it to the Nvidia K2200 in Mobo 2 did succeed. From this, I deduced the problem likely lay with either the CPU’s integrated GPU or the motherboard’s ability to leverage its built-in graphics. I then upgraded to a new motherboard. Attaching Monitor 1 to Mobo 2’s HDMI port with the DVI-to-HDMI cable didn’t help, but linking it to the K2200 in Mobo 2 did. The conclusion remains: the boards appear functional, but the iGPU may be defective. As a last resort, I tried a second monitor using a fresh HDMI-to-HDMI cable directly into Motherboard 2’s HDMI port—this worked successfully. What explanations are possible? Where should I begin investigating further?

It seems you're dealing with a lot of cables and adapters. The process involves changing from DVI to HDMI to DP. I found it hard to follow, even when reading it. Using a straightforward HDMI to HDMI cable resolved the issue completely.

It seems like you're suggesting either use a direct method or skip it altogether.
