FalloutNV and Skyrim core integration.
FalloutNV and Skyrim core integration.
I'm checking how many cores both FalloutNV and the original Skyrim can utilize. I searched online but got inconsistent results. I don't have the games installed right now, or they'd be too outdated to check their core usage properly. I understand this might seem like a simple question, but I only use my computer for older titles except FalloutNV, Skyrim, and Warband, which are also getting quite old. Reducing unused cores could help with heat and sound performance.
2 threads work very well with 2 more threads gently. Because both games are designed for 60FPS and react strangely at higher FPS, depending on your CPU strength you could actually use less resources.
Physics is connected to frame rate, minor variations are acceptable but completely disabling VSync and running at around 200 FPS leads to unusual effects.
It was interesting to turn off two cores last night and see the CPU run much cooler. With four cores and HT enabled, it reached about 53°C, while two cores off with HT on brought the temps down to 46°C. The system is water cooled, which should provide more room for performance upgrades.
