Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out why my Fallout is experiencing heavy frame drops. I usually run it at 60 FPS on ultra for about five minutes, but then it suddenly drops to 18-30 FPS and doesn't recover. When I minimize and reopen the game, it sometimes returns to 60 for a short time. It seems unrelated to my position since my frames stay at 60 even without movement. Also, when I use the driver I downloaded, it works fine. Any advice would be really helpful! Thanks.

Temperature-wise? It's around 80-85. I increased the fan speed and saw the GPU stabilize between 70-75. I plan to keep that setting for a while to check for consistency.

Track CPU and GPU performance during gameplay. Laptops often reduce performance after extended gaming sessions unless they’re labeled as high-performance. In these systems, cooling usually stays adequate but doesn’t deliver peak efficiency. Monitor CPU speeds in real time within a game window—watch for drops below 1.4Ghz (around 800Mhz) across all cores while playing. If the speed falls sharply after losing focus or full load, it likely indicates overheating or throttling issues.

It looks like when the fan is fully on, the game maintains stable 60fps. The temperatures you mentioned should be acceptable under those conditions.

Consistent 60fps is great, provided the fans don’t get too noisy. Those particular laptop specs might have lower temperature limits compared to others. The main option is to increase fan speed.

I'm getting consistent 30 FPS with VSync on, which is expected considering my specs. I'll monitor my CPU/GPU loads tonight but I'm quite happy to be playing even at 30. No noticeable lag, at least for me. Only "drops" I've seen were, err, during a loading screen, of all places. Dipped to 18-19 FPS then came right back to 30 a second after the dip
