After completing the "Freedom Trail" quest, I exited the church and noticed the frame rate dropped to about 6 FPS. It seems my GTX 970 should handle it easily, but the issue persists. After restarting my PC and updating the NVIDIA drivers, the performance remains around 6 FPS. I’m currently playing at 1600x900 (1080p monitor, which was sold). Anyone else experience this problem?

Verify your RAM consumption. The game consumes a significant amount in the Commonwealth (at least 10).

I experienced a comparable problem—game could handle over 60 FPS but froze when preset interval was active. You might want to disable PresetInterval if it isn’t already running. It’s saved in X:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\My Games\Fallout4\Fallout4Prefs.ini. Change the presetinterval value from 1 to 0 and make the file read-only.

6 fps? It seems like you run your game with integrated video card....Actually it's not, because I run it in ultra setting with HD4600 and I can get 10 fps...6 fps are not possible unless you plug the wrong cable...
