Hello everyone, here are some thoughts on your situation. I recently upgraded my rig with a Sapphire R9 390 and experienced quite low framerates in Fallout 4, especially when viewing the sky or ground—often around 60 FPS. Despite setting everything to maximum, I’ve only managed around 40 FPS with medium. It seems adjusting the shadow distance helps the most. Could it be that my CPU is limiting performance, requiring further tweaks? Or is there something else going on? I have an i5 760 with 8GB RAM in single-channel mode on the R9 390.

Oh no, those AMD graphics cards aren’t ideal for Fallout 4 because the game is extremely CPU-intensive.

The CPU is quite outdated these days. It seems to be handling things well, but it might be causing a bottleneck.

Your system doesn’t seem to have a powerful CPU. I also noticed that running MAX on AMD cards in Fallout didn’t perform well—try tweaking the shaders to see if it improves.

He should be okay with his 390. It might be the CPU being old, probably.

The I5 might be limiting your progress. Additionally, Fallout 4 functions more effectively with Nivida cards.

You can play Fallout 4 on a 390 with recent drivers, just adjust shadows to medium. The main problem is CPU usage—App4that noted it’s the most demanding game he’s experienced, causing his 4790k to strain the 980Ti at times.

I understand. It seems like he was referring to a different reason.
