Are you sure? I don’t want any settler to grab my power armor, so I’ll remove the cores right away. I’m not too concerned about Raiders—I’ve made the Sanctuary a fortress with around 25 turrets and strong walls.

What turrets are you employing...would it be beneficial to include more than just a heavy machinegun option?

I rely on simple setups, I own three large turrets to add to them but any raiders are eliminated right away when they attempt to cross the river to the Sanctuary settlement. The Abernathy Farm has 14 turrets along my walls and mostly spends its time hunting bloat flies.

I don't rely on PAs and I have many cores. They are removed after the attack.

Hey, I'm really confused about this game. I can't locate any fusion cores. I've completed many missions in the main story and plenty of side quests. I'm around level 14 with roughly 12 hours played. The only core I found is the one introduced at the beginning of the game.

I arranged everything neatly in a row at the castle, not on stands, and I didn’t include any fusion core inside. I discovered that settlers enjoy relocating them wherever they want if I leave a core inside.

Mission success isn't sufficient. I recommend you carry out this task (it takes a lot of time): inspect each structure, every road segment, each vehicle you encounter, every crevice you notice. I often have to return to the sanctuary to sort through waste from just one spot multiple times. I perform such thorough inspections everywhere...I even collect every bent tin can I come across. Regarding fusion cores, pay attention to these large engines found at certain locations—they operate on fusion cores and you collect them, then remove the core (you’ll hear the engine noise). When you take it out, the engine stops working.

I've only worn power armor once (taking the castle with the minutemen) and never again since. I keep them in Sanctuary. Playing through the game with ultimate difficulty or survival mods might change that.
