I purchased Fallout 4 upon its release and only recently started playing it. I have no recollection of where I bought it. When I launch the game, it displays Far Harbor in GeForce Experience, but clicking Play takes me back to whatever game I was previously on. The map doesn’t change. Does this require any activation?

Avoid traveling too far from the harbor. When you're done with the main game, head straight to the island—it's usually well-equipped.

The game artwork for GeForce Experience displays multiple expansions I don’t have. Verify that Far Harbor is properly added and installed by opening Fallout 4 in your Steam Library, right-clicking it, selecting Properties, navigating to the DLC section, and confirming Far Harbor shows up there.

In Bethesda titles you must complete the mission to unlock the fresh material (the title name for Far Harbor is lost, but it appears on the first save you load after downloading).

I agree with you. I can't locate it anywhere.
