Hey there! I'm trying to get Fallout 4 running again after a fresh Windows 10 install, but the graphics settings don't seem to adjust. I've tried running it with admin rights, checked if the files are read-only, even reinstalled the game, but nothing works. I also tested Skyrim: Special Edition and it's fine. I'm a bit stuck and would really appreciate any tips or help so I can enjoy playing again—especially the mutant and robot content!

Delete the fallout4prefs.ini file and restart the application to create a fresh configuration. Remove its read-only permissions and test the visual options. Check the game’s files for any corruption—your launcher might need repair.

I just reinstalled it all over again, but nothing changed. I also tried removing the files, but it doesn’t seem to work.

What antivirus software are you using? I've been looking deeper into this issue and noticed that some programs can affect your ability to save graphical preferences. You might want to disable the antivirus entirely while playing, or create exceptions in both your .ini files and the game directory. Additionally, adjusting file permissions for specific game files could help—sometimes even running with admin privileges isn't sufficient; setting full control for system, users, and the game's main executable works better.

I don’t have any antivirus protection installed. My system uses Windows 10’s built-in security features, but I’m missing real-time defense. I’ve been busy at work lately and forgot to verify everything.

It's fine. Did you find any success with what I said?
