It's more than just a Bethesda style look. When Skyrim launched it really stood out, and now the new relaunch offers more chances to customize without hurting performance. Even with top graphics, Skyrim feels better than Fallout 4. It might just be the original design choices that made it stand out.

I don't understand why I reacted that way, but I found it hilarious. I'm picturing animals soaring across the landscape with the goal of ruining everything. Bwahahahaha!

It seems the visuals are quite poor, regardless of how much modding you do. I spent a lot of time trying to fix it, but it kept slowing down.
