I'm a bit behind on the event but I recently tried Fallout 4 for the first time. This experience was shaped by significant criticism and serious problems with the game, which might be hard to grasp without playing it yourself. I've only spent a few hours on the game and pushed the graphics to the highest settings—1080p, 1440p, and nearly 4k. Why does the visual quality feel so poor? It seems the engine might be outdated. Based on the performance of my tested hardware (Rx 480, Fury, GTX 1070, GTX 1080), the cards appear to be underperforming. I've checked for thermal issues and performance bottlenecks, but the game still looks very low quality. Even at ultra settings with high resolution off, the image quality is terrible. It feels blurry and grainy, almost like the screen has been coated with Vaseline. While I suspect the game's style might be a factor, most of my friends who've played agree that something is holding back the experience. It probably isn't just me—I think the engine could be old, and if Bethesda is still around, it might be disappointing to play. What are your thoughts?

That's disappointing. I understood the trailers, but it felt like the game was greatly diminished compared to what was advertised.

Same problem with GTA IV that causes it to perform even worse on Maxwell and Pascal cards. It's an old engine with no way to make it compatible.

The game file is extremely large, making compression difficult. It seems the game itself may be poorly made despite its size.

It's not just the performance that concerns me—it's how the actual game looks. I've checked many panels, even going to friends' houses with better screens, but the results remain the same.

You really have limited options unless you enjoy slow-paced RPGs. I’d suggest trying Metro—it’s a much more enjoyable apocalyptic experience.

I've tried the metro and stalker titles. The stalker games seem to offer better visuals and a more immersive feel, which is why I favor them over the Fallout series. Now that you bring it up, I should revisit the metro games again. Unfortunately, Fallout 4 was disappointing, particularly the opening sequence I found engaging. I think I'll hold off until the next release.

That's correct. I didn't need to modify a recently released game to avoid interruptions during play. Including additional features in a game, especially on engines like Bethesda's, is problematic and drains resources quickly. I've heavily customized the game to improve its experience. However, when my GTX 1070 and 1080 face difficulties, it's clear that modding isn't the problem.
