Hello everyone! I'm trying to figure out why my Ryzen 5 3600 isn't hitting its claimed boost clock of 4.2 GHz. After checking with Hardware Monitor, I see the CPU never reaches that speed even when running demanding games like Project Cars 2 or Modern Warfare. My graphics card, however, stays near full usage. I tried turning on Game Boost, but it caused major issues—my PC would crash, fail to boot, and even shut down completely. I ended up disabling it in BIOS. XMP is enabled there, but I'm unsure which Windows version I have since I haven't noticed any update warnings when shutting down. My BIOS is VC02v34, the latest version I have. The system runs on MSI B450 tomahawk with the Ryzen 5 3600, Corsair Vengeance 16 GB RAM, and several high-end GPUs. Any suggestions would be really helpful, thank you!

Check your temperatures during intense tasks like gaming. Which cooler do you currently use?

Hello! Your Cooler Master 212 Black edition is performing well under gaming conditions. After roughly 1 to 2 hours, your CPU stayed between 66-67°C while the GPU reached about 68-69°C. I don’t usually play for extended periods, but that day the room temperature was around 35°C (95°F). On other sessions, CPU temps hovered near 60-65°C and GPU around 66-67°C. Regarding voltages, you mentioned seeing values from 0.925V to 1.475V.

It might be due to GPU limitations. Keep in mind that running games doesn't always ensure your CPU is fully loaded, since games don't always challenge your CPU heavily. Consider using a CPU stress test to check if your CPU performs as expected.

Great to hear the results! Your Cinebench scores show solid performance, with core speeds reaching up to 4099 MHz. The AMD Ryzen chips you're using seem to hit their advertised boost limits, which is common for many modern processors.

I believe a 3600 max clock would oscillate between 4075-4125Mhz, and 4099 works well. Yes, Zen 2 only approached their claimed top boost clocks when PBO+AutoOC was active.
