Hi everyone, I'm facing some issues installing Windows on my new PC. I downloaded the ISO from the Microsoft site and purchased a key. I used Etcher (on Mac) to turn my USB into a bootable drive, but when I plug it in, it jumps straight to the BIOS. I can see my drives listed, and the USB key is detected as a drive, yet pressing F8 still takes me to the BIOS. I'm wondering if using a Mac to create the bootable drive affects the process. Thanks!

It seems you're wondering if a PC is necessary to generate the Windows installation disk.

Use the command `dd` in the terminal to format the USB stick.

I also gave it a shot, but it didn’t work. I’m going to look for a solution for Windows.

You're choosing Windows 8.1 for fun, but it's easier with Windows 10.

Don't rely on Rufus. Simply take an ISO drive. Manually copying it to a USB also functions.

I prioritize privacy above all. Windows 7 offers the best protection. I’m confident handling Windows 8, but I might consider upgrading later.

You should access the .iso file on your Mac, duplicate its contents onto a USB drive.

It's best to try this on a PC. Windows 8 performs similarly to Windows 10 regarding privacy concerns.
