tdp 45 watts base frequency at 2.6 GHz turbo mode at 4.5 GHz I've tested throttling settings to their limits, even setting them as low as 30 W on short max and 24 W on long max, with power caps disabled. My frequency is dropping from 4 GHz to 2.9 GHz while gaming, and my BIOS is unlocked. Someone needs to check my computer and assist me. < removed by moderation> Edited March 17, 2022 by LogicalDrm

That CPU is built into a variety of laptops with their own power controls. On my 10750H it doesn’t consistently reach the full 4.5 GHz, sometimes dropping to 80 watts when only the processor is running. When the GPU is on, performance drops to about 45 watts because of heat constraints. It usually stays near 4GHz with active cores. Be careful online—there are those who misuse information and could harm you. Please delete it if needed; you can identify it yourself here.

When the GPU is on, performance drops to about 45 watts because of heat constraints. It usually stays near 4GHz with active cores. If you have a 45W TDP CPU, why would you lower the power limits below that? Adjust PL1 and PL2 to 60W each, set turbo time to 28 seconds, and look at the MMIO lock box. Most laptops are capped at 45W max, so they’re built to throttle under load. If these changes don’t help, your situation might be tough. Share screenshots of your ThrottleStop settings. Enable Log File mode and play a game for 15 minutes. After testing, close ThrottleStop and upload the log file to your next post in the ThrottleStop/Logs folder.

Adjust the TDP level to zero, which is the standard for these processors. Your screenshot indicates it’s currently at Level 1. When the TS Bench records 7 errors, it suggests your undervolt settings are too extreme. A working system should avoid any errors during this test. These calculations are straightforward: 2 times 3 equals 6, and 3 times 2 equals 5. If the same operation yields different results, your CPU isn’t fully stable. The Intel GPU and iGPU Unslice offset voltages need matching adjustments. The Intel GPU and System Agent don’t require identical settings. Avoid following outdated advice that suggests equalizing them. Set all three to zero volts. Undervolting them this way creates instability without significant power savings. Focus your adjustments on the core and cache. -133.8 mV isn’t stable, so lower it to -125 mV and recheck. Zero errors during the TS Bench are the aim. Even with MSR power caps at 60W and MMIO limits off, a third set of turbo limits remains disabled—set internally at 45W. This is why PL2 glows red in the CORE column: power throttling. The log also reveals frequent PL2 limits being restricted to 45W or slightly less. Your advanced unlocked BIOS likely can’t remove this cap. A Speed Shift EPP value of 114 may limit performance. What are the highest temperatures you've reached? I remember my laptop's CPU would frequently slow down its performance at around 100°C, causing core clocks to drop to base frequency or even below, then after a fresh installation temps fell by about 20°C. Make sure it's thermal throttling, not something else, before attempting any repairs—reassembling your laptop could be frustrating if it turns out to be different. Manufacturers are making these devices increasingly difficult to service, which is a bit disappointing but seems to be the current trend.

This behavior is intentional, as the processor has reached its maximum boost capacity for longer or faster than the PL2 setting permits. Even with a similar CPU and unlocked BIOS, lowering turbo limits will still cause it to hit the PL2 threshold during demanding tasks.
