Failed to install Linux on my system.
I was using Elementary OS on my laptop and the AppCenter failed during an update. I had to restart and the installation didn’t complete properly. Since there are no critical files, I’m just attempting a reinstall. Also, my USB drive isn’t showing up in any BIOS ports. Could you help?
Your bio might be configured for UEFI instead of Legacy. Your Toshiba won't accept 2.0 or 3.0 USB drives from any Linux installer until the settings are updated to Legacy mode.
USB storage is filled using the installation file. The issues in Elementary don’t really matter. The only lesson I’ve gained from computers is that resetting is simpler than solving the real problem.
Verify a few details: When using legacy mode, the drive needs to be written in MBR format for BIOS/UEFI (Rufus). Perform this step if the HDD/SSD you're installing is formatted as MBR. For UEFI setups, use GPT mode with Rufus and turn off secure boot. Secure boot typically functions best with Windows. Try a manual boot override. On most current PCs, press F12 during startup, though some laptops use F8. It usually appears as "Boot override" or similar. Rufus is recommended for flashing USB drives. It supports any Linux and Windows ISO I've used. In most cases, default settings are ideal.
I spent some time tweaking the BIOS and setting up Linux eight times, but it seems my hard drive is no longer functioning.
