1. (Apologies for the simple question) What exactly is firmware? How does it differ from BIOS?
2. The update process got stuck and lasted a long time. I ended up killing the app, rebooting, and now Windows won't boot properly. Is there a method to update the firmware without using Windows? (I'm fine with reinstalling everything, and the system is brand new.) Or did I make a costly error that might require buying another motherboard?
Currently, I can access BIOS and use EZFlash to update it, but this doesn't solve the issue. Windows starts booting, yet it keeps showing "ASUS in search of incredible" and a progress circle. The Windows 11 repair steps aren't helping. Safe mode isn't working either, as I haven't tried all options yet—it will take time, but safe mode plus networking didn't yield results.
Clearing the CMOS resolved the issue. I learned the distinction between BIOS and firmware. Firmware is included in BIOS (the exact difference isn't crucial). It's typically updated alongside BIOS updates. Therefore, flashing BIOS doesn't require a firmware update (usually). Apologies if my answers seem self-centered.
