Before discussing my issue, here are the details of my setup: My main machine features an AMD Ryzen 7 5700 processor with 8 cores and 16 threads, running at 3.7GHz base and boosting to 4.6GHz. It comes with 2x 8GB DDR4 RAM at 3000mhz. The graphics include an MSI GeForce RTX 2060 Ventus GPU with a 12GB GDDR6 memory module. Power is supplied by an 800W 80+ Gold PSU, housed in a Corsair iCUE 220T RGB airflow mid-tower case. Storage consists of a Western Digital SN550 1TB NVMe SSD and a Seagate 2TB HDD. The motherboard is Gigabyte B550 UD, and the system uses Corsair LL120 RGB fans. I also have a liquid cooler from Corsair H100i Platinum SE.

Background: This machine has been in use for about seven years, primarily for academic tasks. Performance was consistently low—often struggling with over 10 frames per second in games. Despite troubleshooting steps and benchmark tests, the problem persisted. The seller had no insight into the issue either.

Issue description: Stuttering appears intermittently depending on the game. In Valorant, I experience heavy stuttering only when the menu is active, but performance returns to normal otherwise. When Discord is open in the background, stuttering reappears but becomes less frequent. In Resident Evil 4, micro-stutters occur initially, intensifying as the map progresses and more activity takes place.

I’m not technically inclined, so I’m uncertain if the problem stems from software or hardware. I’m eager for advice and any suggestions you might have. Thank you in advance for your help.
