Hi there, I’m facing a few annoying problems with my PC and would love some guidance. My specs look like this: CPU – Ryzen 5 5600X, GPU – ROG RTX 3080, RAM – 32 GB, Storage – 256 GB SSD (40 GB free), 2 TB SSD (programs, 1.2 TB free), and a 10 TB HDD (2 TB free). Even though my hardware seems solid, I’m noticing sluggishness when using basic apps like Excel, browsing, or opening programs. It’s puzzling since everything appears to be in good shape. During startup, I’ve seen the display tear or freeze around when launching apps. After updating the GPU drivers, things seemed better, but performance issues persist. I’ve tried updating all drivers, running malware scans, checking Task Manager for heavy users, clearing temp files, and optimizing storage. Could it be connected to how my drives are configured, driver conflicts, or something else I haven’t thought of? Any suggestions or troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!

I would relocate the operating system to the 2TB storage and retire the 256GB unit, which could enhance performance and reduce potential points of failure.

motherboard belongs to a ROG STRIX B550-A gaming CPU, specifically an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X with six cores and 12 threads. The SSD is a Samsung EVO 970 HDD, paired with Trident ZRoyal RAM. The system runs in slots A and C, currently achieving a speed of 2666 MT/s.

The only thing I’d ask is how much would change. Since both are SSDs, and the one with your OS is nearer to the CPU, it might still offer better performance.

When the operating system drive is nearly full, performance can drop. You won’t lose much by taking it out and installing the large 2TB drive in the CPU slot. A fresh Windows installation might also improve things.

Not clear about the A & C slots. Storage should be in slots A2 and B2
