Facing problems with activating my AMD EXPO overclocking for RAM
I just finished installing my new computer. The motherboard is an MSI Pro X670-P with the newest BIOS update. I have a 4 x 16 GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR5 6400MT RAM. After turning on EXPO, my Windows 11 PC crashes shortly. Should I lower the overclock settings or install two 16 GB RAM sticks at full speed?
The ideal frequency for AM5 is around 6000Mhz with Cl30. Exceeding that may cause issues. Using more than four DDR5 modules on AM5 is nearly unfeasible because of controller constraints. This has led to the adoption of 2x24 and 2x48 GB modules, allowing higher capacity without overloading the system. Running two sticks at 6000Mhz works well.
4-stick set won't easily handle EXPO unless you make some major adjustments. At 6400MT/s it's already challenging, even with just 2 sticks.
Others have mentioned that for 64GB RAM you should consider a set like two Corsair Vengeance 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30-36-36-76 units.
It seems I’m unsure about returning them. I should have checked before purchasing them.
