Hello, on your laptop I have Ubuntu Budgie (18.04.4 LTS) and the tty login screen appears without a GUI. I’m unsure how to fix it since I don’t remember my username and can’t log in with the default mt password either. Please help me if you can.

Consider using a Linux live USB (such as the Ubuntu Budgie installer) to explore your files on the hard drive. Navigate to /home/ where a folder matching your username exists. Utilize that to access TTY. After logging in, execute the next steps and restart the system.

The goal is to discover your username on a bootable Linux drive so you can connect via TTY and resolve the issue. Your username usually lives in the /home directory, and you should have a folder named after it there. Have you successfully logged into the TTY? If not and the problem persists, try executing the suggested commands afterward. After rebooting, if you don’t see your login screen, restart and run the following steps:

I'll do my best, though it didn't work either. Thanks for the effort!

Which laptop model are you referring to? Its specifications might differ based on the device. If driver issues are suspected, check for compatible drivers or updates.

I managed to resolve the issue by making a change, but I unintentionally removed the Start Menu. Now I’m unsure how to restore it.

Seen this command online for a comparable problem. Execute it as a standard user (not root). It could help, though it’s not guaranteed to resolve your issue.
