Hi guys, I've been trying to enable gigabit connection on my PC for the past weeks but there seems to be a bottleneck I haven't been able to localize somewhere I made sure both the ethernet cable from the router and the one to my computer support gigabit connection, both are cat 5e, I have updated my network drivers and bios, however I have a rather old motherboard - pegatron corporation 2AD5 on which I only found specs on 3rd party websites but they were fairly consistent and it seems like it should support 1,000 mbps. Yet, when I plug in the gigabit ethernet cable into my computer it does not get detected at all and windows says there is no connection until I change the speed in speed and duplex to 100mbps, a 1,000mbps option in not even listed in there which makes me think it is most likely the motherboard causing the issue but I wanted to ask here before I start looking into a new one. Thanks in advance!

Consider checking information on your Atheros AR8161 network adapter. There appears to be significant discussion around this issue. You might want to use a gigabit card in one of the PCIe slots.

Are your network adapters current? Does your cable meet at least Cat5e standards? Have you used a reliable Cat5e or superior cable?

It's quite outdated. Just use an Intel PCI gigabit NIC and that should suffice.
