I’ve been using the same specs: an Asus ROG Crosshair VIII motherboard, AMD Ryzen 9 3900X, 8GB DDR4 memory, an RX 6800 XT GPU, Seasonic Prime 850W power supply, a Gen4 SSD, and a Seagate Exos 6TB HDD. Windows 10 feels like the only option I have. I tried updating everything, changing BIOS settings, adjusting temperatures with a slight undervolt, but nothing seems to help. Sometimes it happens right after launching a game, other times after hours, and I can’t figure out what’s causing it.
I’ve also checked hardware for faults—about a month ago I had to return both my motherboard and PSU, and now I’m using new parts. That makes me think the problem might be with the GPU or processor. I’ve been monitoring temperatures with OCCT, and they’re usually normal (40-65°C CPU, 56-60°C GPU). The SSD and HDD show good status on CrystalDiskInfo.
I’m really stuck and need some advice. Thanks in advance for any help—I just want to enjoy gaming after work

Essentially, when I play tough games—like those in Sea of Thieves, Darktide, Monster Hunter Rise and similar titles—I start experiencing random crashes. The screen goes black instantly, the audio freezes without a blue screen, and the system restarts on its own after a few seconds. It’s really annoying because there’s no visible error message, and I often have to force a shutdown just to get it back online.

The newest AMD chipset update resolves certain blue and black screen problems. Are you on that release? Is the latest BIOS (version 4201 currently available, with an updated version coming soon)? The MA D GPU driver from yesterday also contains fixes; it’s version 22.11.2. Verified your SSD health using Hard Disk Sentinel.

09-08-2020, 02:38 AM #3I checked both right after they were released and for a few days everything looked resolved, though it kept happening the same way. The main change was receiving this notification during the startup of my PC. If I keep going, maybe it will clarify what’s causing the issue.

09-15-2020, 06:26 AM #4The error suggests checking the GPU details and confirming UEFI support for your 6800XT. A vBios update might be needed. Verify if you're using a PCI-E riser cable and try re-seating the card.

09-15-2020, 09:35 AM #6The alert seems odd and unexpected, especially since it's a new ASUS RX 6800 XT TUF Gaming OC Edition with no additional riser components. I plan to reinstall the card over the weekend.

09-17-2020, 01:28 AM #8Earlier I used another power supply, but the issues persisted. Now I’m replacing the current PSU and will run memtest first.
The card features a BIOS switch on the back. Adjusting the position helps. The UEFI warning appears during boot, and stability checks confirm compatibility with the other BIOS setting. One possibility is that the warning stems from an older BIOS flash for a different motherboard. Was the card brand new at the time of purchase?
