Hey, When I start up Facebook, my internet dies right away. This is weird thing I never heard about before, and I've checked it over since yesterday started. It took me days testing many other probably reasons until I found out that just a few seconds after going to facebook.com, the internet on my computer stops completely. If I look around normally without Facebook, the internet works fine. But as soon as Facebook opens, the internet vanishes "even though the icon on the taskbar still shows that there is internet access." The only way to get back online is to restart the whole PC. *I tried cleaning my browsing cache and cookies, * Ran a full Malwarebytes scan for 12 hours straight, * Did a Full Avast virus scan (also took about 12 hours), * Removed and put back the browser software, * Tried other web browsers except Microsoft Edge where the internet connection is fine but Facebook still acts slow or won't load pages well "for example when scrolling down through news feed pages it doesn't fully load," * Turned off Malwarebytes and Avast before opening Facebook, * I don't have any parental control options set up and haven't changed my router settings. Any help on how to start fixing this? Note that someone posted the same issue three years ago but didn't say if it was fixed: "Launching Facebook kills internet connection When I launch Facebook my internet dies." You know it sounds weird right? But I've tested it over and over now. It just started today. It took me a slow methodical approach testing various other much more likely causes before I discovered that when I go to facebook.com within a few seconds, the internet...

Are you using a specific internet browser to open Facebook right now?

Everyone thinks they are good at all these browsers like Chrome, Firefox and Opera. Except for Microsoft Edge where the internet keeps working but Facebook acts slow and the pages don't load completely as you try to scroll or look at the news feed.

It's happening again and again today, just like before. Could it be a faulty Microsoft Windows 10 upgrade?

Facebook is acting up just like before. I also used Avast to check, but it didn't find anything either.

Since I last touched my computer in 2017, nothing about the issue is related to that old version of Windows.

Good thing is I'm not alone; maybe Avast caused the problem? How did it happen? I just updated my Avast yesterday after things broke again hoping that would fix it, but nothing worked either. Even though I tried to open Facebook without running Avast's protection shields, it still didn't work.

UPDATE: It looks like this problem comes from the Avast stuff. I have the premium suite, which has Firewall, VPN, Cleaner and Anti-tracking tools. I turned off just those shields but didn't change anything else. Then I opened Task Manager and killed all the Avast processes. You can't actually stop the Antivirus itself, but Facebook started working fine. Now to figure out which specific process is causing trouble...

I successfully started Chrome inside the Avast sandbox even when there was no internet connection. After turning off all Facebook notifications, it stopped causing the internet to drop. However, I'm not sure why Avast is blocking those notifications on Facebook yet.

Finally! I've been trying to turn off all Avast programs, but none of them worked except for Antitrack, so apparently that program is causing all this trouble. I tried adding Facebook as a safe site in the blocker, but it didn't help either. The only way to fix it now is to close Antitrack before opening Facebook and then turn on Antitrack again right after Facebook has closed. Of course, that's just a short-term solution while Avast figures out how to solve this problem. I will report the issue to Avast Antitrack and hopefully anyone who has the same thing will do the same so they can see it and fix it.
