Facebook DNS
Facebook DNS
I was just experimenting with some DNS stuff. Then I decided to use a few DNS check tools. On both Facebook and Reddit I received warnings and errors. I’m not sure if this is normal or serious. Here’s my Facebook.com report: http://dnscheck.pingdom.com/troubleshoot...1409934679
You're looking for precise results from the tests. The access through www.com seems to work normally online, but it fails during testing. You suspect a DNS issue rather than a server-side problem, and believe the name servers aren't intended for public use.
The explanation doesn't clarify the issue with name servers. Name servers convert IP addresses to domain names, but sometimes people assume they're connecting to the front server instead of the intended back one, like for Facebook.com. There might be tests available that address this concern, though DNS testing isn't always sufficient. Mine's behavior seems consistent with others.
So then I felt good because the yellow-marked items were the main issue I was worried about. Edit: The delivery via IPv4 to [email protected] couldn't be completed. That was the part I was most concerned about.
SOA has to do with them too, DNS on your end is fine, if this was your website testing then you need to worry, a SOA record needs to be present technically, but because its a corporate handled website SOA records are probably hosted on a different nameserver hence that error as well. Its for their protection not yours essentially. Test other DNS and report back if results differ, doubt they will.
I tried a few other sites. Complete.dk is a Danish computer seller. http://dnscheck.pingdom.com/troubleshoot...000&view=1 This one isn't run by a big corporation. It's normal if it isn't. I checked for issues and found none.
