I've begun playing Crysis Warhead again, but progress is slow. Frames are lagging and loading times are excessive. I recall the original build performed exceptionally well (FPS over 100). My current rig includes an i7-6700k @ 4.5GHz, GTX970 with 16GB DDR4 at 2400MHz OCZ agility SSD, and a 24" Samsung Syncmaster 2494h from 1080p at 60Hz. For other titles like Shadow of Mordor (no mods) or Bioshock Infinite, I'm achieving over 60 FPS. All settings are set to ultra with four audio layers. Any suggestions?

It's clearly the simplest solution, yet a 8-year-old game running at 15-25 frames per second on a GTX970 is unrealistic. Also, the settings were set to their highest levels initially and didn't cause any problems.

Crysis Warhead and Crysis reach their peak performance (in hidden options), easily handling a 980 Ti system.

Finding the hidden options often requires checking advanced settings or contacting support.

I didn't catch the thread you mentioned (it was around late November), but I saw screenshots showing the settings. It looks really nice for a game from 2007. It could be a mod, similar to TheWorse in Watch Dogs.

I recall the first time we saw it perform so smoothly on an 8800GT. When I upgraded to my 5870 back in 2009, running it at high settings with 1200p was a breeze. Understanding hidden options can be tricky—trying it on high might work, but exploring those settings could unlock better performance.

Begin with the highest level and work your way down. It could be a problem with the driver.

I reduced the volume and achieved a maximum of 35 frames per second with minimal interruptions. I also installed the latest driver recently.

It could be the game itself. I believe it doesn't work well with new hardware.
