extremely slow frame rate in GTX 1070 when playing GTA V at lowest settings
When I re-downloaded GTA V to play once more, I’m experiencing low frame rates now, around 40-60 FPS instead of the expected 70-100. The video’s graphic settings are all set to the lowest level. Even when I increase the graphics settings, the FPS remains unchanged. It doesn’t seem to be a CPU issue since this hasn’t happened before. Here are my system details:
PC specs:
CPU: i5 6400 2.7-3.1 GHz
GPU: GTX 1070
CPU cooler: NZXT Kraken X42
RAM: 8GB HyperX Fury (2x4) 2133Mhz
MOBO: Gigabyte B150 d3h
I’ve tried the following fixes:
- Restarting PC
- Reinstalling GTA V
- Reinstalling Windows 10
- Reinstalling GPU drivers
How it works? Is this a unique aspect of GTA or a general mechanic?
Sorry dude, it looks like it might be your CPU. Take a look at the CPU clocks and temperatures—thermal throttling could be the issue. Also, check if anything is running in the background. If the CPU is handling everything smoothly, it’s likely operating at full capacity since it’s at 90% usage.
This has always been the case since the beginning of video games, regardless of your ping or server speed. If one player is lagging, it slows everyone down because the server needs more time to process just one character.
I've noticed choppy character movements and erratic animations but never experienced extremely low frame rates.
