Occasionally my computer resets its clock speed to about 0.5ghz and holds that setting until I turn it off again. The cause might be something else, not just overheating. It can happen while idle or when I’m using the machine, sometimes only occasionally for days or multiple times a day. Despite having a high-end setup—AMD 3600X, AORUS X570 Elite, Windows 10, BIOS and chipset updates—I still experience this. My system specs are: AMD 3600X, AORUS X570 Elite, WD Black SN750 500GB, 16GB 3200 CL15 RAM, RTX 2070 S.
You verified your power plan configuration. The Ryzen Balanced plan is set at a minimum performance of 99%, which caps at 100%. No adjustments were made, but recent updates to AMD's chipset drivers might have affected these settings. It could be connected to the issue you're experiencing.
I'm running the Ryzen High Performance PowerPlan. Switching it didn't fix the issue.
