hello everyone, i set up a pc with a ryzen 5 3600 and tuf b450-plus gaming. the cpu temps are really high when idle, usually around mid 70s. i’m not sure about the cooler placement, even though it’s my first build. although it’s not my first amd build, i’m worried about running games at those temperatures.

It is correctly positioned. I verified it in the BIOS and M.SI Afterburner.

It's from the 1970s in BIOS. In Windows, try Ryzen Master or HWiNFO for better Ryzen temperature info. Make sure your BIOS is up to date if you haven't already.

I refreshed the BIOS to the newest release. I’ll test Ryzen Master and note the results.

What cooler are you employing? Test it under stress to observe temperature changes. Your safe upper limit before thermal throttling reaches 95°C is 90°C, so monitor closely and halt operation if it approaches that point.

It displays the temperature reading in the BIOS. If the BIOS shows an unusually high temperature, it might indicate a faulty cooler mount. If it's within normal ranges, consider reinstalling Windows if you're using an older version.

it's unusual in the bios, but it's also pretty high. I tested Cod on max settings—CPU usage was around 40, and temperatures were near 92°C.
