Hello. I recently assembled my PC and everything functions properly, except for the CPU temperatures. They spike to 55-65°C even when idle, and during a stress test they reached 95°C almost instantly. I stopped the test right away. What’s causing this? Also, the CPU runs at a steady 4GHz without any overclocking, and the voltage seems inconsistent. The specs are: Ryzen 5 3600, MSI B450 Tomahawk, RX 5700 GPU, Gskill Ripjaws V 16GB, 3400MHz RAM, Kingston A2000 500GB SSD.
It seems the issue might stem from mount pressure since the wraith cooler already has a good thermal paste applied. A possible cause could be insufficient airflow in the case—check temperatures with and without the side panel on. I also observed that the system runs at a steady 4.0GHz, so ensure your Windows power plan is set to Performance mode.
It seems like what you're saying might be a common assumption. Running at full clockspeed all the time can actually affect performance, but your 3700x does handle it well at 4.5GHz, even when idle.
I'm facing the same problem with my Ryzen 3600, MSI B450 pro carbon cooler. At idle it stays between 50-70°C, but when I do anything the temperature spikes to 90+°C. I thought the stock cooler was the issue, but after checking the connection and applying thermal paste, nothing changed. The GPU and RAM are both around 30°C. Anyone know why this happens or how to fix it?
