Holy crap youre right. This would be my first halo, but eh lets give em a shot Hard MP for FPS, unless the story is super engaging. Finished Infinite, never played fallout, and finished Borderlands 2.

You've found some interesting options beyond the usual titles. Halo Infinite is available for free on Steam if you're using PC. I've played a few less-known first-person shooters over the years—Warface, Splitgate, Overwatch, and Paladins are among them. Warface runs on both PC and console, and it's quite engaging. Splitgate blends elements of Halo with Portal, offering a unique twist. Overwatch isn't free but is popular, while Paladins feels similar and seems accessible. Hell Let Loose is a more team-oriented WWII FPS with a loyal fanbase, though it can be detailed and demanding to pick up. These should give you some good choices to explore.

Rejecting the idea of paying excessive amounts just to win. Renting a vehicle is barely worth it on War Thunder, let alone the game's weapons. I’ve seen varied opinions—some praise it, others criticize it heavily. Personally, I’ve tested it and have Arma 3 installed, so I’m confident in my setup.

1) Just skip the payment. I've been using it for a long time without spending any money.
2) Consider using Splitgate—it's free, so you can decide for yourself. It’s clearly not pay2win.
3) Alright, go ahead and try it then.

Splitgate's experience offers solid gameplay, even with moments that feel forced or self-aware. There’s a competitive mode that feels a bit over-the-top, but it’s there. The mention of Overwatch content seems out of place, yet it doesn’t detract from the overall community. Many players have moved on after years of play or due to recent changes, but finding others is still straightforward. The discussion often centers on frustration with repetitive mechanics and a general sentiment that the genre has declined. It’s clear this thread reflects more frustration than constructive advice.

My take seems to be that everything I provided fell short of expectations, and no one else matched it. It feels like he already has a strong view on popular first-person shooters, even though he’s seeking guidance from someone new.

Can you take the blame? I haven't played a first-person shooter since Medal of Honor: Allied Assault and Battlefield 1942—we're talking about 2003-2004. The FPS scene has changed a lot since then, and for some of us, not much better. I actually enjoy looter shooters as a bit of an alternative to traditional FPS games. I tried Warframe and the Anthem beta; the former was limited by MTX, and the latter just didn’t work out. It’s a shame, really—I miss the classic shooter experience. That’s why I get where you’re coming from. Sometimes you just want to confirm you’ve explored all your options by asking others. If the advice is the same as what you’ve already checked or if you’re facing the same issues, then the outcome will be what you see here. There are no good suggestions being chosen, and sometimes there’s simply no answer.

This situation is definitely expected. I’m confused about everything going on, unsure if this is just a FPS-focused challenge where I want to win—though I usually feel okay with negative WL in War Thunder. Still, I’m getting tired quickly from FPS performance and would love some tips. Any ideas?

Update for @Skiiwee29:
1. Played Rogue Company – the queue is slow but the TPS is what I prefer; it took 5–10 minutes per queue despite having a big player base.
2. Halo Infinite is more about shooting and having fun, even though I haven’t played MCC before.

We need to figure out our next steps. If the options don’t meet your expectations, you should decide whether to accept them or look elsewhere. Don’t hesitate to say no if you’re not comfortable with the help offered.

I think you are looking for something incredibly fresh and engaging, that will reignite your love of fps games...and it doesn't exist. Everything is a copy of something else. I think you'd have more satisfaction looking into single player fps games. There is far more original stuff being done in that genre than there is the online multiplayer side where it's all about 15 different clones of CoD or Halo or Battlefield vying for attention in an over saturated marketplace. Stuff like the Bioshock and Fallout series, or Prey, Dishonoured, Soma, Doom, Deathloop, or maybe try a third person game like the Resident Evil series, or Warframe, Gears, Days Gone, or maybe something more action based like The Surge, Nioh, God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, or even Ghost of Tsushima if you have a Sony console. There's a lot out there worth playing - but only if you feel like fps games aren't the be all and end all.
