Extremely booming spectral tower
Extremely booming spectral tower
I received my 3400G today, but the fan is extremely loud. It produces the same noise as at 0:09 on YouTube, similar to a small bike engine sound. My 2600 cooler barely makes any sound even at full capacity, and any noise during gaming gets masked by the GPU and PSU fans. Worse still, it only increases when browsing the internet, not while watching videos. I've noticed it reaching around 2500 RPM at 40°C. The CPU isn't overheating, temperatures are normal. The sound is really annoying—it rises and falls with idle time on my desktop, just like in the video. Is this fan defective, or is this common for 3400G models?
It might be useful to note this with AMD; they could possibly issue a new cooler ID.
I haven't noticed any unusual noise from the cooler, though I understand @slippers_ suggested logging it with AMD. You might want to tweak the fan curve—it could be set too high by default. Also verify the connection to the correct header; it seems not intended for a PWM pump. Some concerns exist about this, but it’s worth checking anyway.
That's a problem. My setup uses a 3-pin air pump in a 4-pin connector, so it's always running at full capacity. It's quite loud, but I'm sure it's normal. Probably similar with the fans too. Just be careful not to connect 3-pin fans directly to 4-pin headers—it might work, but it could cause issues!
I understand this problem well. Stealth coolers tend to run at lower RPMs, which reduces noise. You might want to switch to DC mode in BIOS and tweak the curve accordingly. Personally, I kept it on PWM but adjusted the curve so the fan only reaches 60% speed when needed, since my case is already well ventilated.
it's a basic A320 board, just one CPU fan and I connected the cooler inside. I'm reaching out to AMD probably. My 2600 fan is almost inaudible at full speed, but this one is really bothersome at 1.7-1.8k RPM—even with the CPU running at a low temperature. I've adjusted the fan curve to the silent setting on the manual, but it keeps spinning too fast.
i’ll attempt that but i need it to spin up to 100%. it’s also a spire, and the stealth mode on my 2600 is extremely quiet—so quiet you had to open the case several times just to check if it was spinning. compared to my i5 2500k running at 100%, it was nearly silent. this sound matches exactly what’s shown from the video at 0:09, which is really bothersome.
Do not put silent, I've used to have A320M S2H from gigabyte and it didn't help - as I said, choose DC mode, not PWM first - then limit your fan RPM or adjust curve. There is no other way around unfortunately. I'm looking to get custom cooler because it is annoying.
