I was browsing eBay for a CPU with bent pins to practice and possibly upgrade. I saw a listing for a Ryzen 9 7900x priced at $125, sold by someone with over 10,000 items, but it didn’t boot at all. When I asked if he’d tested it elsewhere, he said he couldn’t afford to do so. I’m unsure if this deal is worth it—especially since it’s a risky move. I also inquired about the motherboard indicator and other components, but he hasn’t replied yet. Please share your thoughts; any advice would be appreciated.
Typically bent pins cause defects instead of a clean finish. Ensure the image shows bent pins before proceeding. If absent, avoid spending further.
The Ryzen 7000 line uses contact pads instead of pins, similar to Intel. If the chip doesn’t respond, it might mean the motherboard is faulty. Motherboards tend to fail more often than the CPUs themselves.
