Extrem Frametime Spikes details Key moments in the timeline's extreme phases
Hello, I'm reaching out for help with some issues I'm facing while playing games on my RIG setup: an i7-10700k processor paired with Artic Freezer 2, a 240mm RTX 3060, and MSI Z490 Plus. The graphics card is the Ripsaw 3600MHZ CL16 at 750W. I'm experiencing consistent spikes in performance every few minutes—usually between 15 to 60 seconds. During those moments, my FPS drops sharply while frame rates increase, causing noticeable lag or freezes. Sometimes it happens only once every few hours, but always with certain titles like Overwatch 2. The problem appears unrelated to CPU usage; even when GPU and CPU are busy, the spikes disrupt gameplay.
I've tried several fixes: changing storage devices, swapping RAM and slots, adjusting power settings, updating BIOS, resetting the system, and tweaking driver configurations. I've also used tools like MSI Afterburner, FrameCap, PerMon, LatencyMon, and Nvidia Control Panel to monitor performance. However, I'm still unsure what's causing this issue.
Some games seem to be affected more than others—especially those on Battle.net or similar platforms. The spikes seem to happen suddenly, making it hard to pinpoint the exact cause. I've also noticed unusual sounds during these events and occasional freezing.
Could you help me identify the root of this problem? Any recommendations on further testing or tools that might assist in diagnosing the issue?
