Extracting ports, SMDS chipsets, and sockets from boards using only a heat gun is possible.
I'm looking to recover as much useful information as possible from these dead boards before they're scrapped. I've already salvaged the BIOS chips, heatsinks, ILM/socket covers, and jumpers. Now I'm focusing on soldered components like chipsets and sockets because there are many damaged ones. It would be helpful to salvage ports too, as fixing broken connections on other boards or SMDS could be useful. The only item I have is a 1500W heat gun; I'm wondering if it's suitable for salvaging boards. I'm worried it might be too powerful for small SMDS but not strong enough for desoldering CPU sockets.
