You're facing an issue where the HDMI to DVI adapter isn't working properly with your MacBook Air M1. The input signal isn't within the range, and even after adjusting display settings on your MacBook, nothing updates. It seems like the adapter might not be receiving a valid signal or there could be compatibility problems. Try using a different cable or testing another HDMI to DVI adapter to rule out hardware issues. If the problem persists, check the adapter's power and connection.

I attempted but no fix works. I'm unsure if the signal updates properly or if the display actually turns on/off when changing resolution. Right now I don't have another cable since it's a DVI display connected via DVI to HDMI using a dongle on my MacBook. Perhaps later I might purchase another one and test it, but for now, if you have suggestions, let me know. Otherwise, I won't use it right now—it's not essential. If you have any ideas, feel free to share.

Consider using your dongle or HDMI with a TV to verify functionality. + linking your monitor to another device (console?) If not, ensure the resolution is flexible.

I'll try the cable in another location.

It seems the screen might not be compatible with macOS, so I've chosen a different model that supports it for a larger view.
