Extensions for Mate?
Check for active processes, you're likely safe, but your screen flickered unexpectedly and recently someone on the Ditro forum advised against running anything.
Ensure the selection is genuine. Check power management options in the menu and verify display sleep settings. A screensaver might also be present—search for it if installed.
It appears the display signal is being toggled on and off without user interaction, especially when the mouse isn't moved. This behavior seems specific to KDE environments with high memory usage and swap activity, though it may stem from XFCE. Checking swappiness settings via `sudo echo > /proc/sys/vm/swappiness` or `cat /proc/sys/vm/swappiness` can help determine if memory management is the cause. System memory usage can be assessed with `free -m`. This issue might also occur during startup or after opening large applications.
The screen suddenly stops working at random times, but it returns when you press a button. You have plenty of RAM, so memory isn't the issue. Mostly browsing, not heavy editing. Free version works fine—multiple options don’t make sense. Check if swap space is available; it seems to be limited to 8.8 GB.
O.K. copy and paste this command, I'm not sure how you are entering them, but the free -m should definitely work, so I cannot understand how you are getting an error. lspci -nnk | grep video this should list your graphics device, and the software driver it is using. remove | grep video if it doesn't show anything, and look for your video device in the list. What driver is in use? amdgpu, amdgpu pro, nouveau, nvidia, or intel?
