Extender for Wi-Fi coverage
Extender for Wi-Fi coverage
Hi there everyone, I bought a WiFi extender for my parents home a few weeks back but I've been having problems with it. Basically, when I walk between one side of the house and the other, it will switch from the router to the extender but the Internet won't work until I disconnect from WiFi and then reconnect again. My router is from the Internet provider Orange (Livebox 5) and uses WiFi 5 and the extender is from Strong (WiFi 6 1800) For information my router broadcasts two networks : 2.4 and 5GHz and the router amplifies the 2.4GHz into two networks as well with the same names as the routers two networks respectively. My question is : is there a way to make my phone switch from one to the other without having to disconnect from WiFi every time as its a hassle? Is there something I'm missing which would solve this problem? Thanks for reading and sorry if my mistake is very basic as I'm not an expert !
I recently worked with Orange's hardware and I can say it’s really basic. There’s no clever logic behind connecting a repeater to the system. If wiring isn’t an option, it’s better to use a mesh network that handles handoffs between nodes, and just skip the Orange box’s Wi-Fi.
Sure, please explain further and I'll do my best to clarify.
It really comes down to your choice, whether you connect directly to the mesh or use the orange enclosure, but it mostly hinges on the system you decide to use.
