I just upgraded my setup to the AM5 platform and GPU, along with the RAM. I have four 16GB modules (64GB total) from Dominator, certified for AM5 and set to 6000MHz. After adding two more sticks for aesthetics, it takes about a minute to boot. On the ASUS board, it stays on an amber light during RAM checks, then after a minute it resumes normal operation. It’s strange how it behaves—don’t mind the wait, I find it odd for my system. Is this AM5 with four sticks or something different? Should I try running it at 3000MHz? I’d rather not have to remove the battery to clear the CMOS if I can’t post later. Thanks for any advice!
Memory training can be slow, especially with multiple sticks. After a while it might feel reasonable with about a minute of boot time. Recent BIOS updates offer some improvement, but AM5 still tends to have long startup times. Newer BIOS versions include features like Memory Context Restore and Fast boot, which might help. The AMD CBS menu could be useful, though it may affect boot reliability—consider disabling it if problems arise. This setting prevents the system from booting, which can be problematic. The Ryzen 7000 uses a desynchronized MCLK/FCLK, unlike the 3000/5000 which had a precise ratio. This limitation is due to the chip's inability to reliably reach higher frequencies; most high-end chips cap around 2200MHz. Set the FCLK to auto for a stable 2000MHz performance.
Updated to the latest version (non-beta) 1413. Boot times remain slow, around 31 seconds until the amber light faded, allowing CPU and GPU to start. It didn’t really make a difference. I’ve heard it’s known to be problematic in the 7000 series before. I couldn’t locate this setting, but it’s safe to assume it won’t cause issues during boot. Thanks for the info, Auto It works. Hah.
