Extended functionality for Windows installation partitions.
Hello, I attempted to isolate my Windows installation from the software using a separate partition named "WSoft," as shown below. This was done because I intended to format the PC later, but I no longer needed it. I thought this would reduce setup time since I wouldn’t have to reinstall most of my software again. Now I just need to extend that partition, but Windows won’t let me. Disk 0 is a Kingston 111GB SSD; Disk 1 is a 500GB Toshiba HDD. The remaining partitions come from an Ubuntu installation.
To grow the partition, the unused area must be next to the right side of the partition you want to enlarge. Since you already have a recovery partition on the right of the C volume, you can't achieve this using Disk Management or DiskPart—they lack the ability to rearrange partitions. Instead, you'd need a partition manager to shift the recovery partition or relocate the C partition to the left of the available space.
Looking for a solid disk manager? There are many great options—free and open-source ones are especially helpful.
