Hey there, I understand things can get confusing. Let's break this down. Your modem works well in the living room, covering your whole apartment easily. Your PC is in the bedroom, and you don’t have any Wi-Fi cards installed. You mainly use it for gaming.

You’re considering two options: a powerline adapter or a mesh Wi-Fi system. For the mesh setup, you’d connect the wired adapter directly to your PC through the back of the device, linking it to your modem and then to your PC. This way, you avoid extra nodes and keep things simple.

For the powerline adapter, you’d only use the wired connection in the back of the device. Since Wi-Fi isn’t a big issue in your apartment, your main concerns are speed and reliability.

Comparing these to USB Wi-Fi adapters or other setups, mesh systems can offer better coverage without extra hardware, but latency depends on how well the nodes connect. A wired connection usually gives more consistent performance than wireless, especially for gaming.

If you’re unsure about wiring, just confirm the layout of your building and the placement of devices. Let me know what you find—I’m here to help!

Set the modem in your space, purchase one Wi-Fi booster. (Or install a router if preferred.) Connect an Ethernet cord to your PC, place the Wi-Fi extender in the living room. This ensures optimal speed, so no one will complain about slow connections.

I’d consider purchasing a Wi-Fi PCI card with a breakout antenna since they’re affordable. If your router supports Wi-Fi 6, it could perform quite well.
