Exploring ways to share a mouse or keyboard between two users
Hi There,
To sum it up briefly, I’m looking to place my PC at a desk in the spare room while still keeping it functional in the living room. My idea is to keep the original keyboard and mouse (Logitech Y-R0042) on the desk for that setup, then use a USB extender in the living room with an extra receiver there. This way, I can move the mouse or keyboard between rooms when needed. It depends on whether the devices can connect to the second receiver without being too far apart.
Does this approach work for you?
Thanks.

This doesn't resolve your range problem, though.
There are certain keyboards that can link to several devices, but your question is a bit different. Logitech offers a receiver that can be adapted to their devices. Previously, this was marked by a small orange circle next to the brand name on both the keyboard and the receiver. I’m not entirely sure if there’s a similar repeater for this purpose, like we used for audio equipment.

The keyboard/mouse set lacks a single receiver, functioning as a one-to-one connection. Even for programmable sets, you'd have to manually link each time to a new receiver.
