Hi everyone, I recently purchased an RX 5700XT with both an 8-pin and a 6-pin port. My PSU only has two 6+2 sockets, but I had to connect one of them to the motherboard's ATX_12V port. The 6+2 port is connected to the GPU and seems working fine so far. My concern is whether I need a different PSU with an extra 6-pin socket. Also, the card isn't being detected at all—it was the onboard graphics that failed. Updated March 4, 2023 by metron

The PSU uses its own EPS connector, not the one on the motherboard. Which model are you referring to?

You're referring to a power supply with a limited number of connections.

The PSU is from Antec, likely a local option. From the attached photo, the 24-pin connects to the motherboard, the 8-pin links to the atx_12v, and the only available slot is still yours.

The cable you connected isn’t a PCIe cable—it’s a 4+4 EPS cable. Your power supply only provides one PCIe cable, and it doesn’t meet the 80+ standard. This device isn’t suitable for any purpose beyond a basic office computer.
