Hi, There's this problem, been going on for quite a while now. I have a pc with windows 8.1. Every now and then, when I boot up my PC and after I have logged on, windows becomes unresponsive and I can't click or do anything. I have to open task manager and force a restart of explorer.exe (sometimes more than once). I have had a look at the event log, and there are some error information, I don't know if it's anything to do with my problem or not. Does anyone know how to fix this? Hope you guys can help. Thanks, Dan

I experienced a similar issue where it crashed and data was lost. Frustrated with troubleshooting, I resorted to reinstalling Windows 7 on my system.

I haven't encountered any data loss currently, and I'm favoring Windows 8, so I'd like to maintain it!

This process might require a fresh installation. Does it occur during safe mode as well?

Ugh, I haven't given it a shot yet, but I should.
