Following the Windows update, file explorer still displays in its default light theme even when you switch to the overall light/dark window theme. I was able to adjust settings and taskbar to dark mode earlier, but explorer stayed unchanged. The Cortana/Search menu also doesn’t adapt well—white in light mode, solid white in dark mode. It’s not ideal for your preference. Can someone suggest a way to revert File Explorer to the light theme while keeping the rest of Windows in dark mode? Thanks, Aereldor.

The explorer theme can't be altered directly. Setting it to Dark in Personalize makes everything appear black. This setting has been in place since the 1809 release.

Really frustrating. The search bar in the taskbar only works as a certain colour in dark mode, but in light mode it stays white. Absurd!
