There seems to be no straightforward way to recover save or world files after uninstalling and reinstalling Minecraft Windows 10 edition. The method you found didn’t work, so you might need to back up your data before proceeding.

Minecraft Windows 10 stores game worlds in a specific location. A. Unlike the standard version which saves them to %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\saves\, the Windows 10 release keeps them at %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe\ LocalState\games\com.mojang\minecraftWorlds. The files are saved in various formats, making it impossible to simply transfer worlds from the Java-based edition to the Windows 10 one.
