Hey there, I’m eager to explore ChromeOS but prefer not to buy a physical device. I’d like to install it from an external hard drive or laptop storage. I’m having trouble finding a download for the full version, even though I know about Cloudready. What options exist for a genuine, updatable ChromeOS experience with all the Android app features? As a computer science student, I’m up for diving into some advanced stuff. Let’s figure this out together! P.S. Please keep my posts clear of any rule violations.
ChromeOS is designed specifically for Chromebooks. It's likely that using the official Google version on a non-Chromebook might fall into the same category as hackintoshipping, which isn't permitted here. ChromiumOS is the open-source alternative and should be a solid starting point.
I'm familiar with ChromiumOS, but it currently lacks most of the features found in real ChromeOS. I’m curious why it isn’t as comprehensive as what ChromeOS offers. I thought ChromeOS was open source, so why is it treated differently? Maybe I’ll keep hoping to get more support from Sundar Pichai.
Android app support is available. ChromiumOS may encounter problems with certain multimedia or DRM functionalities on multiple websites.
Thanks in advance! It looks like you're planning to try out Chromium. Good luck with your experiment!
