I was testing MC on my new setup and noticed this issue. I enabled it, but performance dropped significantly. My system has a 4670K and R9 290 GPU, yet I’m only achieving about 60 FPS even without any frame rate limits. Since MC isn’t a heavy application, I’m curious about the cause.

Make sure to download OptiFine if you haven't done so yet, and activate Multi-Core on one of the configuration pages. http://optifine.net/downloads EDIT: My GT 640 with an 8320 performs smoothly

The text is unclear and contains errors. Notch has previously stated he isn't a skilled programmer.

Amd performs well with OpenCL, OpenGL and NVIDIA DirectX. Their capabilities match those of AMD in this context. Are you sure you're not using VSync?
