Refer to your motherboard guide for details on PCIe lane allocation; the chipset may offer extra lanes too. In practice, installing another M.2 drive won’t significantly affect your 2080ti since GPUs typically don’t reach saturation on an x8 PCIe Gen 3 slot, let alone a higher speed connection.

Yep! All GPUs are up to 8x8x4 and they’re running smoothly without affecting my VII’s performance, even though it’s on the higher end. The 4x setup works too but isn’t ideal. Compute tasks handle just fine.

Performance might drop on the GPU, but devices linked to the chipset will suffer too. They each receive four PCIe lanes from the CPU, so they’ll compete for resources, making your SSD slower when other tasks run.
