hello everyone, i've been dealing with this problem for about a year or so. i gave up several times, but now i'm questioning why i let this annoying issue waste my investment. my monitor only shows 60hz instead of the expected 144hz. i have a ryan zen 5 2600 rtx 2060 msi b450 gaming rig, plus two 8gb c15 corsair 3000mhz coolermaster mwe 500 bronze drives, and a 100gb kingston sata hdd. i also had a 1tb hdd, but it failed after removal, which really improved my experience—before that, the monitor felt like 60hz or even worse, with frame drops and lag, though fps stayed stable. once it was fixed, around 70% improvement, but the monitor still only hit about 90hz. when i start playing, it feels smooth at first, then after a while it starts stuttering, dropping to 144 to 10 or 15 for a second. after a few of these drops, it becomes noticeably laggy again. i turn off and on the monitor, and it improves a lot. it’s not just my monitor—it happens with both units i’ve tried. i ran a quick ram test and everything looks good. the gpu passed the stress test, but the issue persists. the repair guy checked my pc and said it’s fine, so what’s going on? at first, when i plugged in my computer into a specific outlet, power dropped all around my house. i had to switch to a different outlet to get it working again. if anyone could help identify the cause or fix this, i’d really appreciate it. i’ve tried multiple repair shops, but they just clean the pc and install a corrupt windows update. this isn’t just a fluke—it’s a real problem, confirmed by many others. thank you all in advance for your support.

I check which connection type you're using—HDMI or DisplayPort—and switch accordingly. If HDMI is present, I switch to DisplayPort. Also, verify that G-Sync isn't active in your Nvidia settings and reinstall the GPU drivers if needed. These are the steps I'd take first.

Tested numerous cables, each producing a slightly varying visual output. Ultimately, the outcomes matched, G-Sync remained disabled, GPU drivers were reinstalled countless times, I attempted nearly every possible solution—still no clear resolution. It seems this could be the toughest challenge you face.

Are you certain it's not just the 1% low and frame rates causing the slowdown? It seems like the lag is getting worse. Recording the issue would really assist in understanding.

Also, I'm not sure if you have multiple monitors, but if you do, make sure to stick with the 144Hz one.

Starting from the beginning, I want to say thank you for your effort. Honestly, I've been dealing with this for about two to three years. I'm 100% certain it's not just the small issues making it seem worse. Those lows really affect me—when I stabilize at 144fps fully, it feels like 60Hz. The keyboard and mouse lag is strange, and everything improves noticeably when I turn off and then back on the monitor. I don't have two monitors connected.

This seems quite unusual, and I’m not sure what’s going on. Someone should probably respond.
